Discovery Gateway provides hands-on creative activities that are both educational and entertaining for the whole family. Located in downtown Salt Lake City, Discovery Gateway motivates children and adults alike to discover, learn, and connect with their world. Discovery Gateway opens up a world of possibilities and inspires children and adults to consider endless career opportunities as they share the moment of discovery.

Four floors & over 60,000 square feet of interactive, hands-on FUN for all ages!  Discovery Gateway is more than a museum; it’s an experience you never outgrow. Our engaging workshops, programs, and exhibits inspire children to use their imagination, discover something new, and connect with their world.

Click here for a list of classes, events, and daily activities. Discovery Gateway welcomes the adventure-minded of all ages! Children under age 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Guests 14 years and older (who are not accompanied by a child) must leave photo ID. Activities available for children of all ages. There is a play area that is specifically for "3 years and younger", and a smaller area within that area that is for "18 months and younger"; in addition to the wide variety of activities for children older than 3.

The Children‘s Museum of Utah was founded in 1978 by a group of dedicated parents, educators, and community leaders who all believed that children learn best by doing. Driven by a deep desire to make a difference, this group of founders spearheaded the development of the original Children‘s Museum of Utah. But The Children‘s Museum of Utah was really just the first chapter.

The dream of a world-class, hands-on learning center for children is now finally a reality thanks to an innovative community initiative led by The Children‘s Museum of Utah in partnership with Junior Achievement of Utah, and Salt Lake County.

On September 16, 2006 The Children‘s Museum of Utah officially became Discovery Gateway. Discovery Gateway is the premier children‘s museum in Utah providing engaging interactive activities that inspire learning in children and fun for the whole family. Discovery Gateway opens up a world of possibilities and inspires children and the adults in their lives to consider endless career opportunities as they share the moment of discovery together.
