Location: Located 16 miles west of Salt Lake City off Exit 104 on Interstate 80.

Great Salt Lake State Marina offers spectacular views of sunsets over the Great Salt Lake, a search and rescue operations center, and provides marina access for sailors, sculling enthusiasts, other boaters, and bird watchers. A remnant of ancient Lake Bonneville, the Great Salt Lake covers more than 2,000 square miles and is two to seven times saltier than the ocean. The lake attracts more than 257 species of birds, depending on the season, and is a major stop for millions of migratory birds.

• Go east 0.5 miles to the traffic light at Main Street.
• Turn south (right) and drive 0.6 miles to the traffic light at 350 South.
• Turn west (right) and drive 0.2 miles to the stop sign at 50 West Street.
• Turn south (left), drive 0.5 miles to the Utah House parking lot entrance on the west side of the street. The service entrance to the UBC greenhouse and offices is on the east side of 50 West, 0.2 miles north of the Utah House parking lot entrance (725 South Sego Lily Drive).

Rock Cliff Nature Center at Jordanelle

Rock Cliff Recreation Area is located on the southeast corner of the reservoir and offers visitors a quieter experience. Nestled in the tall cottonwoods on the Upper Provo River, Rock Cliff offers camping, a nature center and a boardwalk. These campgrounds are walk-in and dogs are not allowed. Elevated boardwalks and groomed interpretive trails guide visitors across wetlands and rivers to the Nature Center where educational and interpretive exhibits add to the visitor's knowledge and appreciation of this fragile environment.

Take I-80 east to US 40 south, at the traffic light turn left to U 32 east, travel about 7.5 miles then left on Rock Cliff Road.

Red Butte Garden, a part of the University of Utah, is a non-profit organization located in Salt Lake City, Utah. With over 100 acres including display and natural gardens, walking paths and natural areas with hiking trails, Red Butte Garden is the largest botanical garden in the Intermountain West that tests, displays, and interprets regional horticulture.

Located in the heart of Ogden, you'll find a 152-acre nature preserve open to the public year-round. Visitors enjoy picnic areas & tree houses, wander the trails and meet birds of prey. The Ogden Nature Center offers a wide variety of classes & workshops for all ages including art, photography, birding, wildlife in Utah, outdoor recreation, conservation, sustainability, summer camps and more.

Memory Grove Park

Memory Grove is dedicated to Utah veterans and to the memory of those who died while serving in various battles, from World War I to the Vietnam War. It features peaceful greenery and the quiet sounds of City Creek. The striking veteran monuments offer interesting diversions while you enjoy an afternoon by the Harbor of Beauty pond. City Creek runs through the park with trails on either side. On the east bank, you'll find the unpaved Freedom Trail. On the west, you can follow the narrow road up to City Creek Canyon. A few steps up the canyon, dog lovers will find one of the city's rare off-leash areas.

Hiking, biking, and the Memory Grove park area nearby. Just east of Capitol Hill in Salt Lake City is the City Creek Canyon with numerous hiking and biking trails. City Creek flows across the city into the Jordan River and Great Salt Lake. It was once Salt Lake City's water supply.

Brigham Young Historic Park

Although visitors are welcome to Brigham Young Historic Park throughout the year, during summer months the park is especially popular. Between June and August, Tuesday and Friday evening concerts feature local and internationally known musicians, and are free of charge to the public (click here for a schedule of performers). The concerts begin at 8:00 p.m. in June and July and at 7:30 in August.
