Directions: From I-15; take the Lehi exit #279, which is Lehi's Main Street. Continue west along this street, which eventually turns into Hwy 73. Continue along this highway to the town of Fairfield, approximately 22 miles from Lehi. Once in Fairfield, follow the highway signs into the park.

Believing Mormons were rebelling against the laws of the United States, President James Buchanan dispatched 3,500 troops, nearly one-third of the entire U.S. Army, to suppress the rumored rebellion in Utah. No rebellion or war ever took place in Utah. However, the army stayed to monitor the Mormons, explore the western frontier, and provide safety for immigrants moving west to California, Oregon, and Washington. Camp Floyd, named in honor of Secretary of War John Floyd, was built by the army with the help of local citizens, providing a financial boost to the local economy. At their height, Camp Floyd was the largest military instillation in the United States. The population of Camp Floyd and the town of Fairfield grew to 7,000, making it the third largest city in the Utah Territory.

Schorr Gallery

Located on the third floor of West Jordan's City Hall, the Schorr Gallery has been exhibiting work by local artists since 1994. Featuring paintings by emerging artists as well as established professionals, the gallery seeks to encourage the development of artistic appreciation and endeavor by all who enter. The Schorr hosts seven shows a year, one of which is the annual Spring Contest, which attracts some of the best artists in the state. Additionally, the Schorr sponsors a plein air event on July 4th in Veteran's Memorial Park in conjunction with West Jordan's Family Fair and Stampede Rodeo. The Intermountain Society of Artists holds it annual Fall Contest at the Schorr.

West Jordan Historical Museum

The West Jordan Historical Museum is a non-profit organization supported by the West Jordan Historical Society. The small homestead museum features several out buildings (including a dairy barn and a blacksmith shop), live chickens, antique farm equipment, one of the original carousel horses from Saltair, and many more historical treasures from the area. A tour through the museum's buildings and grounds is fun for children of all ages. The museum's annual Pumpkin Walk is quickly becoming a popular fall activity for local families. The museum grounds can be reserved for private functions such as birthday parties, wedding receptions, and family reunions. Call for details.

West Jordan DUP Museum

In 1859, to replace a log church house, Bishop Archibald Gardner chose Elias Morris as architect of this red sandstone and granite church. On May 15, 1861, the corner was laid. Proceeds from a military ball, attended by LDS authorities including Brigham Young, Fort Douglas officers and others, completed the $10.000 building. Dedicated August 11, 1867 by Wilford Woodruff. Leased and restored by Daughters of Utah Pioneers 1937.

The Temporary Museum of Permanent Change is a community based, participatory project that uses the major construction processes in downtown Salt Lake City as catalysts to animate the city. Social Hall Heritage Museum

The Social Hall Heritage Museum is dedicated to the lighter side of pioneer life. Visitors gain a greater understanding of this important aspect of early Utah society. The remains of the original Social Hall, built under the administration of Brigham Young, were discovered in 1991.

The Museum houses over 50 fire engines from different eras and locations throughout the state. Most of which are in working condition. The oldest engine dates back to 1914. The museum also includes the firehouse. This is an educational tool teaching students the importance of fire safety through a video and hands on experiences. The firehouse along with a guided tour is perfect for helping young scouts obtain fire safety merit badges.
